Shinobi the Ninja

Say hello to my first amigurumi design!

This little ninja’s name is Shinobi, which means “to sneak” in Japanese.
I’m looking forward to creating series of friends and enemies for him to battle with/against as well. So keep an eye out!

Bernat Super Value Yarn – Black, Red, Dark Heather (Less than 1 skein each)
RedHeart Super Saver – Grey Heather (Less than 1 skein)
You can substitute the above yarn with any medium weight (4) yarn.
4mm Crochet Hook
3mm Crochet Hook
Safety Eyes
Yarn Needle
Fibre Fill / Stuffing

Stitches Used:
MR – Magic Ring
SC – Single Crochet
SL ST – Slip Stitch

– Pattern is worked in the round and NOT JOINED at the end of each row. You can use a stitch marker to mark the end of each round.


Start with 4mm hook and black yarn.
Foundation: Ch 12, turn. 2SC in 2nd stitch from hook, 10 SC.
Turn to work into the back of your foundation chain, 2SC in first stitch, 10 SC.

Round 1-3: 24 SC around.
Switch to skin tone yarn.
Round 4-7: 24 SC around.
Switch to black yarn. 
Round 8-15: 24 SC around.

Insert safety eyes between rows 5 and 6.

Leg 1

Continue with black yarn
Round 16: 4 SC, count back 8 stitches (including the 4 you just made), connect to opposite side of the body and 4 SC to create an 8 SC round.
Round 17-19: 8 SC (in the round). Fasten off.

Leg 2

Continue with black yarn
Count across 4 stitches from leg 1, connect yarn to the 5th stitch.
Round 1: Ch 1, 1 SC in the same stitch, 7 SC.
Round 2: SC in first SC from the previous round, 7 SC.
Round 3-4: 8 SC (in the round). Fasten off.

Stuff the body using the opening between the two legs, and then sew this opening shut.
Stuff the remaining space in the legs.

Feet (Make 2)

Using black yarn
Round 1: MR 8 SC, SL ST to join. Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing.

Arms (Make 2)

Starting with skin tone yarn
Round 1: MR 6 SC
Round 2: 6 SC
Switch to black yarn
Round 3-7: 6 SC. Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.


Switch to 3mm hook and red yarn.
Ch 35, turn. SC in 2nd ch from hook. 33 SC across. Fasten off.

Throwing Star

Continue with 3mm hook and use grey yarn. 
Ch 3, SC in 2nd ch from hook, SC. Rep 3 more times.
SL ST to first SC.



Sew the feet (Magic Rings) to the bottom of the legs.
Sew the arms to the sides of the body.
Sew the headband around the head, with the ends showing near the side of the head.
Sew the throwing star to either hand.


And voila! The fearless master of stealth Shinobi has been born!
